Looking back over your experience since being diagnosed, what advice would you have found helpful? What do you wish you’d been told?
It’s about 3 years ago since I saw CKD on my results. The GP didn’t get in touch and I had to look up what it meant. I have since researched it regarding diet and what the blood results mean but I have no renal team or dietician to discuss results and I assume I am stage 4 with an eGFR of 20 sometimes less. Why is kidney disease such a poor relation compared with heart failure which I also have. Is it my age , I am 91.
Hi, I only found out last year that I’ve had CKD for 5 years and I’m stage 3. My GP told me by a text message and no follow up whatsoever. I’ve tried speaking with them but only get told I’ll get yearly blood test and nothing else. I’ve tried doing my own research as to what medication and vitamins I cannot take. Has anything be else had this experience?…
Yes, the same. I just got told in a message that my kidney reading had deteriorated. I didn’t even know there was a problem, it had never been mentioned.
I have been angry about it, had I known changes would have been made earlier to my diet and lifestyle.
I am trying to educate myself on what to eat. I asked to see a dietitian, was referred but presume there is a waiting list, heard nothing else. I’m 72.
