Persistent Swelling and Small Lump in the Neck Following Dialysis Catheter Infection

Hello everyone,

I am a dialysis patient. I previously had a dialysis catheter placed in my shoulder area, which unfortunately led to an infection. Following this infection, I began to experience persistent swelling on the right side of my neck, accompanied by a small, palpable lump that I can clearly feel with my hand.

I have consulted several ENT (ORL) specialists and underwent 4 Radiographies and 1 Echoscan/CT scan. Surprisingly, the imaging results came back clear and did not show the cause of the swelling or the nature of the lump.

My most recent ENT specialist prescribed a 3-month treatment plan consisting of:

Diflucan 50mg (for 15 days).

Xycet.

Aeromax.

I have completed the full 3-month course, but the swelling persists, and the small lump is still there. I also feel a constant sensation of congestion/fullness in that area, which I suspect is due to residues from the initial infection.

Has anyone experienced something similar after a catheter infection? Since the scans showed nothing, are there other diagnostic steps or specific types of imaging (like Doppler Ultrasound or MRI) that you would recommend? Could this be related to lymphatic drainage or venous issues stemming from dialysis?

Thank you for your help and advice.
