My eGFR suddenly down from 40 (9th Jan 2026) to 27 (2nd March 2026) now CKD4

My eGFR was tested three times in Jan and once in Feb and once in March. I deteriorated from eGFR 40 (9th Jan) to eGFR 27 (2nd March.)

I have asked my GP why this is. I have lost 2 stones in weight from Jan. I have a lot of life stress which I deal with as I always have. I exercise little. I see a private dietician who gives me a diet intended for CKD 3 because a doctor rang up recently about 2/3/26 eGFR putting me in CKD4 last Monday. He says come off metformin for my diabetes due to eGFR below 30.

GP put me on waiting list. I am also on easikidney trial with empaglofoxin and I think at momemt a dummy pill. I shall talk to easikidney to see if they can advise and provide a reason for this decline.

Hello, I am also on the Easi-Kidney trial and am a diet controlled diabetis and have been so for many years. You should find that the Empagliflozin remove some more of the glucose from your system and makes up for coming off the Metformin. It also helps with losing weight. I am a stage 4 CKD patient with a EFGr of 21. That was n January so my next Easi-Kidney appointment is now next week. On reason for a decline is lack of hydration, so please drink at least 1.5 litres a day is what I am being told. Good luck. Best wishes B
