Welcome @JEW. Great to have you as part of our new online community. There seems to be quite a lot of people on the forum already who are 70 or over. So good to have the older generation a big part of the community. Perhaps someone wants to set up a new topic aimed at those over 70 who are affected by kidney disease?

I’m Mark,46 years old. I was diagnosed with stage 3a CKD (FJHN) in 2017. It progressed to stage 5 in mid 2024. Been on the donor waiting list since October 2024, and on Heamodialysis since February 2025 (3 x a week 4 hours in a unit). Still work full time, parent of 2 teenagers and run a youth football team.

Life is tough but key is to remove negatively about the situation into more positive actions.

Welcome @Anthonytindall. Good to have you as part of the new community. While travelling can of course be very difficult when you’re on dialysis, some of the users on here manage to arrange dialysis abroad and may have some helpful suggestions. We have a sub-category ā€˜travelling with kidney disease’ that you might want to keep on eye on, or start a new topic in this area.

Welcome @Moss to Kidney Community. Thanks for sharing your story and some of the frustrations that you’ve had. I hope you find this a supportive space to connect with others who have had similar experiences.

Welcome to Kidney Community @Jock. Impressive that you’re still working!

Welcome @Leigh. Thanks for introducing yourself. Love your determination despite what life has thrown at you. I imagine there may well already be other new users who have Alports too, so you might want to start a new topic focused on Alports syndrome and look to connect with them.

Great to have you involved in the community @Kwez04 and to hear that you want to be supporting others in this space as well as learning yourself. You may find the ā€˜Caring for someone’ section a useful place to connect with others in a similar situation.

Welcome @JeanBurton. Great to have you as part of Kidney Community. I hope you find the occasional support you’re after here.

Hi, I’m Ken, 72 and currently 6 months post transplant. I was fortunate as I was transplanted whilst eGFR was down to 7 but I had not begun dialysis. My kidney journey has taken almost 15 years since first diagnosis at stage 3.

Looking forward to meeting you all

Hi, I’m Rae, I’m in my 40s and live in the beautiful South West. I’m a month from being 9 years post transplant after doing PD for 2 years and being diagnosed in my early 20s. Very proud to say that I have recently become a CKD peer supporter for CKD warriors who are covered by Southmead Hospital who may have questions/queries or concerns. Really pleased to be here x
