I have been Stage 4 for several years and all that happens next is monitoring to try to maintain your current stage and not let it deteriorate. You should have 6 monthly meetings with your local hospital nephrologist. Best wishes B

Hello Freya. I am 80 and it does not get any better with the NHS.What stage are you at ? Following a renal diet may stabilise your current situation. Best wishesB

Hi Ela

I too reluctantly started on statins although my cholesterol was normal. The pharmacist said that with CKD there was a new normal .

I have also been prescribed Ramipril for High blood pressure yet my average BP is 132 over 82 but does dip down and occasionally up over 140. I am resisting taking those tablets as they seem unnecessary but perhaps I am being daft? Interesting that a really good GP at my practice has not argued the point unlike the pharmacist?

Best wishes with it Ela, keep questioning them as they do seem to follow a flowchart!

Stage 2 it was the nurse who has given me the urine test for urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio to find out. The doctor just seems so nonchalant about it

I think that you will be fine, Have a lookat the renal diet which s available on here.I think that it is important to keep you Potassium levels under control so watch your intake of tomatoes, bananas, dried fruit etc , your reading should start with a 4 , if it gets to 5 try to cut back. Best wishes B

As beanbag says, stage 2, not really to worry about yet and to think about the future with some healthy eating

You’re a long way most likely from any issues to worry about.

My doctor wants me to have statins but I’m holding off until I’ve had more tests and better info, his reasoning was he takes them

The choice is always yours, whatever the medication. Good luck and Best wishes B
