There are several people joining the past week who have been diagnosed at stage 3 recently
It’s early, and is treatable, depending on what’s causing it, so have a look at the kidney kitchen, with lower protein options, low salt etc
Try also not to have too much fluid, as that can impact your swelling ankles
I elevate mine every evening, which helps, but if I’m stood up for several hours, they’re really swollen and can be sore, so I totally understand
I’m stage 5, awaiting dialysis to start, and waiting for my prostate cancer treatment, but there are people in tougher situations here too.
At stage 3, it’s the first real stage that we get diagnosed at, so there’s a long way from serious conversations around treatment and hopefully a diet change and some medication will keep you stable
I’d think, from experience, depending on what any results were previously, they’ll look at 4-6 monthly bloods and you can always get something sooner in between if you start to feel worse or you notice symptoms changing.
The chat with the GP should put a plan in place for you, and give you guidance on diet and exercise ideally
I got referred to a kidney consultant as soon as they found I had stage 3, you could ask your gp to refer you. I feel my consultant takes good care of my symptoms and has started me on medication that could help my kidneys. Do you know if you’re stage 3a or stage 3b? I stayed at CKD stage 3a for about 8 years.
The GP should check your blood pressure as this can get elevated with Ckd Also have they tested your iron because you can get aenamic with Ckd as well which made me feel so tired. The consultant arranged an iron infusion and a vitamin d loading dose
