Hello Kidney Community!
My name is Brogan and today is my first day as the Senior patient forum officer for Kidney Community. I’ll be here to help the forum run smoothly, support conversation and make sure this space feels welcoming, safe and supportive for everyone affected by kidney disease.
Some fun facts about me:
- I have worked at Kidney Research UK for nearly 4 years in the Community and Events team looking after all things fundraising and awareness raising

- I went on an 8 month backpacking trip through South East Asia

- I played the trumpet for 8 years
!
I’m really looking forward to getting to know you all and hearing your experiences. Please feel free to say hello or share a bit about yourself. I’m excited to be here!

Hi Brogan. Good to have you on board. Pretty sure you will be able to offer lots of support, advice and encouragement!
I well remember when our daughter was learning trumpet and it was … interesting. She did find playing her trumpet was therapeutic as an adult though!

So wonderful to meet you. I am very much looking forward to connecting even further with the amazing kidney community

Oh I am sure my own parents (and dogs) really didn’t enjoy those practice sessions at home. Maybe I should pick it back up again your daughter find it therapeutic

Hi Beanbag! So great so chat with you
Wow, that trip sounds like an amazing experience. If you had to choose, where would you go back to?

That is very kind @Beanbag , thank you for those lovely words.

I think that Angkor Wat in Cambodia needed more of our time , but we had spent too long in other places. Japan was really fascinating, but really needed several more months. Very expensive though. Burma was a strange place as the people generally were very friendly, but the police and military were certainly not. The short list would include Bhutan and the Northern States of India, in the Himalayas, warm clothes a must. We also spent a long time in South and Central AmericaI Incvluding Easter Island and the Galapagos Isles. But I am 80 now, so my travels are largely behind me. Insurance is virtually impossible with CKD. But we had a great time , Happy Days, B

I am unsure of the seriousness of this contributor. He/She seems to have a one sentence response to all. I suspect that any follow up would uncover the need to remit large sums of £’s and is therefore worth y of some administrative oversight ? B
