Introduce yourself

Hello James. Seems that you have your life in order. I hope you get your 2nd transplant soon. What is the current waiting list ? I am not going down your route as I think at my age the surgery alone could be problematic. You have over 20 years on me so go for it ! Best wishes B

Hello beanbag I have no clue about the transplant list,it’s my weight that is holding me back other than that I’m fin dialysing at home have some other health issues but they are not holding me back from transplant.

Hi James

Twenty-five years is quite impressive! I can imagine your machine is quite different to what you were used to! Hubby has only been on dialysis for 7 years and the machine has been replaced (by a much better model, I have to say. Welcome to the forum.

Hello Aura

Thanks for your reply. This was all found because I have been trying treatment for high blood pressure. Everything I take I seem to be having a reaction. It was just chance that I had a check on a water sample. I tried a new bp tablet a couple of days ago and had a really bad reaction. I don’t know if this will be harmful to my kidneys. I am trying to drink much more water so hopefully it will wash through.

Hello, If it is of any use, I am on Ramipril and Doxazosin , and have been for many years My blood pressure has remained at 120 / 65 since 2015 with very little variance. I have had no discernible side effects during this time. Wonder if this might be of help. Best wishes B

Hello

I have tried Ramipril and several others, within half an hour of taking them my blood pressure shoots up to around 220/125 ish.

I’m getting fed up with trying new ones and nobody finds out why! I asked if they are damaging my kidneys and told no it’s ok!

Thanks for your information though.

Hello everyone I’m stage four GFR 18% I’m 80 years old I go to the gym three times a week and watch my potassium level very carefully I have other health issues but CKD is probably the worst

You put me to shame, with your gym regime @stangilbert! Good on you!!

Hello, Same age as me. i am stage 4 with an EGFr of 21. I do not know where my local gym is, but I do have 3 acres of garden which keeps me quite active. I have been banned from cleaning the gutters, which are about 25 feet up. My wife has padlocked my ladders. I agree, CKD is probably the condition we have least control over. Even following a careful diet, kidney degradation is the main problem. It is what it is , and our 3 score years +10 is along way back. Best wishes B

Hi, I’m mum to twins with HHRH, Nephrocalcinosis and hyocalceria. HHRH is so unique that only three people in Scotland have it and I have two of them! I was wondering if anyone on here has HHRH?

Hi my name is Tim I am at ckd 5 waiting to start dialysis just come out of hospital again as the vein to fistula started to close up. Since diagnosis 6 months ago I have lost4 stones in weight, I am trying to get on a transplant list which said no to 3 months ago as they said I would not survive the operation. I also do very basic exercises as movement is restricted due to cod.

Hello  welcome and thank you for sharing your unique story. I can imagine you get ā€œtwins, what a handfulā€ and people don’t even realise the half of what’s going on! It might be worth having a browse through this category - parents of someone living with kidney disease. It could be wroth getting some support from others who are in similar situation even if its not quite as specific as having HHRH. I hope you manage to find a bit of support and advice
