Hi all. I have had a lot of health issues recently. Through tests with the GP I have been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. This came as a surprise. One of the symptoms is increased fatigue, which I originally put down to the osteoarthritis. I have been doing quite a bit of reading about CKD since being diagnosed, very interesting. I was not aware that osteoarthritis and chronic kidney disease are bidirectionally linked. CKD accelerates joint degeneration while osteoarthritis causes systemic inflammation that can impair renal function. Has anyone else on here had similar experience of this?

Wow, this explains a lot for me. The fatigue is really problematic and upsetting and I thought it all down to the OA. Although it is still going to cause me all the same issues, understanding that I probably have a double cause might be a psychological help.

That also says a lot to me as I have osteoarthritis, I get incredibly tired all of a sudden, and lately under my knees are painful in the joints and shoulders, and generally feeling weird, I am putting it down to the hot weather, trouble is how can you be sure.

This is very interesting (although really frustrating). I don’t have osteoarthritis yet the connection is something to watch out for.
