Medical ID bracelet or card

Hi all. I am thinking of purchasing a medical ID bracelet for CKD. I was just wondering if there are any free options available before I spend money?

I bought one recently and I could only find one that came from china (I think) took about 2 weeks to come and cost £22. It was worth it to me as I was going away with someone who was not so familiar with what can and can’t be done in case of an accident. Eg. I cannot have an MRI. I wear it all the time you just never know what might happen!

Hello Gav

My husband wears the one from kidney research.uk

If you have a fistula site offers a put a lid on it

Excellent idea.

Hope that helps

I have worn a medical alert one for many years as I have Lupus as well as kidney failure. It is not a free service but you can store a lot of information on their web site and you can get credit card sized cards to carry in your purse or wallet etc.

“Wearing a medical ID bracelet felt like a constant label. Managing Chronic Kidney Disease already chips away at your sense of self, and wearing the bracelet only made me feel more like a diagnosis than a person. I eventually switched to a phone medical ID, a keyring tag, and a wallet card. It’s an easy, low-profile alternative that cost less than £10 on Amazon, while giving me back my sense of self.”
