Has kidney disease changed your outlook on life?

One thing I wasn’t expecting was how much a diagnosis could change the way I think about everyday life.

Some things that used to seem important don’t anymore, while small moments with family or simply feeling well for a day seem much more meaningful.

Has living with kidney disease changed your priorities or perspective in any way? Has kidney disease changed your outlook on life?

Yes, it has absolutely. Not in a, I’m making the most of every day because I might die tomorrow, but in a, make the most of as many days as I can, because it’s important to live life, and enjoy yourself, not just exist through it

Yes. I used to be obsessed with fashion and was active on some forums. I find it all seems a bit vacuous now. What’s weird though due to my illnesses I’ve lost and can buy clothes anywhere.

It’s interesting to read how both of you describe this change. I think kidney disease has a way of making us focus on what really matters instead of the things that used to seem important.

Reading stories like these also reminds me that the right support can make a huge difference, especially for people going through dialysis or struggling to access treatment. I recently came across Hopewell Foundation in Pakistan, which provides free dialysis and healthcare support for patients who can’t afford treatment. It’s encouraging to see organizations working to make life a little easier for families facing kidney disease
